Personal Technology Workshops for Seniors

Everything you always wanted to know about using smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, emailing, texting, online banking and more.  No previous experience necessary. If you can drive a car, you can use these personal technologies.

Personal technologies such as smartphones, notebooks, laptops, and smartwatches can assist seniors in accomplishing daily tasks, increase productivity, decrease social isolation, receive in-home healthcare, and generally make a senior’s life easier.

Massachusetts Seniors Incorporated (MSI)will conduct five in-person workshops designed to enhance seniors’ personal technology skills. Each workshop is two hours long and includes hands-on device and Internet use. The workshops are free and will be conducted at Massachusetts Senior Centers.   The workshops will be video recorded and available as a free download from the Masssenior.org website.

According to the AARP, many seniors are reluctant to use personal technologies because they lack confidence in their use. However, if offered confidence-building education opportunities that are easily accessible, they will embrace the opportunity.

Seniors attending these workshops will gain knowledge about the use of personal technology devices and become more confident device users. This knowledge creates the opportunity for social interaction, increases the ability of seniors to conduct their personal business more effectively, and creates employment opportunities.
